Navigational aids:
The dunes in the coast east of Ustka are higher than those west. Behind them there are lakes with shallow outlets to the sea. Behind the lakes there are wooded hills visible from the sea. The high wooded coast about 1 Nm WSW of Rowy is a good landmark. Rowy leading lights, in line bearing 141° lead into the harbour and are exhibited on two white triangles, pointed up and down on concrete columns.
Quayage and berthing facilities
Rowy fishing harbour lies at the mouth of Łupawa River. The entrance to the river is 12m width, narrowing to between 6 and 7m. On each bank of the river there is wharfage 200m in length for fishing boats mooring. There is a depth of about 2m along the fishing quays.

General information:
Rowy, a small fishing harbour at the mouth of Łupawa River. It is also a holiday resort connected by road with Słupsk. The population of Rowy is about 2,000. The river connects Lake Gardno (area of 2,500 ha and depths up to 2.6m) with the Baltic Sea and is navigable only by small craft.
The entrance to the harbour is liable to considerable variation depending on the wind direction. Strong winds cause silting and shoaling off the entrance. An increase in the strength of the river current may be expected. Local knowledge is essential.
The first written record about Rowy (known this time as Rou) comes from 1282. In 1390 Henry Derby paid a visit to Rowy known later as Henry IV King of England. In 1784 there lived 26 families who carried on the fishing tradition.
The distance is convenient to the fishing grounds. The local fishing ground, called Rowska Bank, lies about 0.75 Nm from the mouth of Łupawa River. The bank is a rock and gravel patch with a depth of 4m over it. RO Buoy, which is withdrawn in winter, is moored in 1 cable north of the bank. In stormy weather, or with strong currents, this sandy patch may become dangerous due to rough water.
Fishing with nets and lines takes place on Rowska Bank throughout the year except in the winter. Nets are marked by flags and at night by buoys with white lights.
