General information:
D¼wirzyno, a summer resort and fishing port, lies at the mouth of Canal Resko, a short shallow channel leading into Lake Resko. Population is about 1200. The first written information about D¼wirzyno comes from the 13th century. For ages it was a fishing village but since the 19th century summer visitors started to come.
After the Second World War D¼wirzyno was almost completely depopulated, but the governmental resolution aiming to reactivate coastal sea fishing brought it back to life. Under the terms of the resolution, thirty farms for individual fishermen were built in the locality. From that time this little settlement began to grow and the local port became an attraction for tourists.
The opening of marina in 1997 made D¼wirzyno an important harbour for pleasure craft. Marina is located between the bridge and the sea coast and consists of the yacht basin with conrete wharves and depths from 2,5 to 3,5m. Marina guarantes good shelter for 40 sailing and motor boats
D¼wirzyno is a well known vacation centre, located 12km west of Ko³obrzeg and is an ideal spot for relaxing. The extensive sandy beaches, with many guest houses and hotels nearby, attract summer bathers. The area is a favourite for anglers of recreational fishing.
