General information:
Oksywie is a northern suburb of Gdynia and an important Polish naval base. From the 7th to 8th century a stronghold was there. The first document of Oksywie as a fishing village dates 1214. Currently, a pier extends 0.25 mile east-northeast and there are groynes extending from the coast for about 3 cables north. There is a government owned shipyard which does both naval and commercial work. Fishing boats from the local base deliver fresh fish for the nearest urban community.
