The 3rd Edition of the SAUDI TRANSTEC finished

The 3rd Edition of the SAUDI TRANSTEC Exhibition & Conference was held from November 11-13, 2012 in Dammam. Once again it provided Saudi Arabia with one of the most comprehensive events in the region for transportation, materials handling, warehousing and logistics.

Offering the ideal platform for the logistics and transport sector to network, international and regional transportation and logistics leaders came together to participate in the 3rd Saudi Transtec Exhibition & Conference and to share industry developments, know-how and discuss future opportunities. Officially supported by the Ministry of Transportation, Saudi Transtec 2012 provided an international level of service to sector leaders.

Engineer Mohammed Khalid Al Suwaiket, Assistant Deputy Minister for Transportation, for the Ministry of Transport, officially opened Saudi Transtec 2012 and took a detailed tour of the Exhibition, meeting with many of the key companies and presenting awards to the Associate Companies - the Dammam Bonded and Re-Export Zone, Hala Supply Chain Services, IPS - International Ports Services and King Fahd International Airport.

With support for the event growing each year, SAUDI TRANSTEC is gaining increasing support from a number of the key International Associations - Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce, German Saudi Arabian Liaison Office For Economic Affairs (GESALO), Ghorfa Arab German Chamber Of Commerce, MAFEX the Spanish Railway Association, the UK Based Middle East Association, Supply Chain & Logistics Group, the Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport and the Logistics & Supply Chain Management Society (L&SCMS).

A number of senior industry and embassy representatives were in attendance including Mr Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Manie, Chairman of the National Transport Committee, for the Council of Saudi Chambers, Feroz Siddiqui, Centre Director of International Enterprise of Singapore & Commercial Attaché for the Singapore Embassy, Joey Hood, US Consul General, Dhahran, David Harries OBE, Head, British Trade Office and Edward Burton, President & Managing Director, US Saudi Arabian Business Council

Saudi Arabia is making great strides to establish itself as a key global transport and logistics hub, and is currently working on building an infrastructure of multimodal transportation, making it an attractive prospect for investors.

Exhibiting Companies come from Asia, Europe and the Middle East providing a broad international presence from countries including Italy, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Germany, India, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, the UAE and UK. The participating industries at the exhibition include Freight, Shipping, Aviation, IT, Ports, Cargo, Railways, Materials Handling Equipment and Service Providers.

The Saudi Transtec 2012 Conference provided sessions on Business Solutions & Initiatives Supply Chain Challenges & Solutions, Country Focus - Developments in the Kingdom, Challenges & Developments for Air, Sea and Rail Logistics and Sector Focused - Customised Solutions.

Presentations and panels covered a broad range of topics and touched on topics including the CEO Challenge, Strategic Importance & Growth Potential of the Middle East Markets for 3PL Logistics & Services, Supply Chain Engineering, Warehouse Innovation, Cargo Village Developments at King Fahd International Airport and Design and Implementation of the Largest Transportation Sector E-Government Solution in the Middle East, as well as the Opportunities and Challenges being faced by the Shipping Industry in the Saudi Petrochemicals Market.

Designed for decision-makers looking for solutions, the Conference provided attendees with a forum for networking and discussion, for all those focused on issues concerning the Kingdom's transport and logistics sector.
