II. Why CIMPS-Europort?
1. Jiangsu: World industrial base, No. 1 shipbuilding & offshore Hub in China
① Shipbuilding & offshore industry:
In 2011, Jiangsu accomplished output (Accounting for 36.4% in China; 16.4% in the world), newly received orders (34.6% in China,18.0% in the world) and handholding orders (38.9% in China, 16.9% in the world) account more than 1/3 of China. Even under current global economic depression, Jiangsu shipbuilding industry is making its way against the stream.

In 2011, the total Jiangsu import volume of maritime equipment reached to USD 1.15 billion increased by 19.20% compared with 2010, largely surpassed other areas. The Yangtze River Delta area is the most important economy engine in China, with the best foreign investment absorbing environment, and the strongest purchasing ability. The shift of focus of Chinese shipyards from bulk carriers to LNG vessels, offshore support vessels, construction vessels, etc. shows a high demand for advanced technology and equipment.
