Difficult Times - new opportunities for Baltic ferry and ro-ro transport

4 - 5 November 2009, Port of Gdynia Authority
Event in brief

The Baltic ro-ro and ferry transport is functioning on internal, regional scale. For that reason, it is strictly connected with economic situation and foreign trade between the Baltic countries. Thanks to that, current situation on the market do not reflect directly the changes of the global seaborne transport.
At the same time, limitation of the demand on particular connections as well as the awareness of economic recession require a new approach to the Baltic ro-ro and ferry service operation. It refers to the service organization, seaports infrastructure or fleet structure.
The Baltic tourists market served by global cruise operators or vessels of regular ferry lines is the interesting, potential area of those changes. A great opportunity for development of ro-ro cargo services is the promotion of the flows shifting from troublesome road haulage to environmental friendly seaborne connections.
These issues will be the basic topics of Baltic Ro-Ro and Ferry Conference 2009.
